If you are shopping for a Toyota Tacoma camper shell, the first question is not glass or color. It is which Tacoma you have. Toyota redesigned the truck for 2024, and the shell that fits a 2019 will not fit a 2024. We sell aluminum toppers for both generations, and here is how we sort them out.
One quick note on words. Camper shell, truck cap, topper and canopy are four names for the same thing: a hard shell that closes your truck bed. Whichever one you typed into Google, you are in the right place. Everything we fit to this truck is on our Toyota Tacoma topper page.
Two generations, two fitment groups

The third-generation Tacoma (Gen 3) ran from 2016 through 2023. The fourth generation (Gen 4) arrived for 2024 on a new platform. In our fitment catalog those are separate groups, and the parts are not interchangeable.
The reason is simple. The bed and the mounting points change between the two trucks, so a shell built for one does not carry over to the other. We would rather tell you that up front than have you find out at install.
If your truck is a 2023 or older, start with our 2016-2023 Tacoma page. If it is a 2024 or newer, use the 2024-present Tacoma page. Each page lists only builds that fit that generation, so nothing on it is a maybe.
What stays the same
The good news is that the choices look alike on both sides of the redesign. We cover both the 5 ft and the 6 ft bed for the Gen 3 and the Gen 4 Tacoma. The body is 2 mm anodized aluminum with reinforced bolt-together panels. Mounting is the same no-drill clamp system. You also get the same two series to pick from, Forge and Panoramic.
So the generation decides which shell you get. Everything after that is about how you use the truck.
Bed length decides the shell
Within each generation, bed length is the one thing to get right. On the 2016-2023 truck, the 5 ft bed comes on the double cab. The 6 ft bed comes on the access cab and on long-bed double cabs. Each length is its own fitment group, so a 5 ft shell will not do on a 6 ft bed.
Do not guess from the cab style. Measure the inside of the bed from the bulkhead to the closed tailgate. It takes a couple of minutes, and our guide on how to measure a truck bed for a cap walks through it step by step.
Forge or Panoramic
Both series fit both generations, so this choice is about your habits, not your year.
Forge Series is the rugged, utility build. It suits a Tacoma that works: tools, gear, wet and dirty stuff going in and out of the bed. Panoramic Series is built around side and rear glass. It suits a truck where you want the view, and light and visibility inside the bed.
If you are torn, our series comparison page puts them side by side. Pick the one that matches what you actually put in the bed, not what looks good in a photo.
No drilling, and built for the weather
The shell is held to the bed rails by clamps. Nothing pierces the bed or the paint, and the cap can come off later if you sell the truck or change your mind. That matters more than it sounds, especially on a newer Gen 4 truck you plan to keep clean.
The anodized aluminum finish is corrosion-resistant, which is what you want against salt air and Florida sun. Doors and windows have perimeter weather seals, and the locks are secure. The warranty is 3 years on the shell and structure and 1 year on accessories.
Reserving, pickup and install
Once you know your generation and bed length, ordering is short. A $99 deposit holds the product, or a spot in the next production batch, and it goes toward your order. Lead time is typically 2-8 weeks, depending on stock and the production batch.
Pickup is free at our Hallandale Beach warehouse, between Fort Lauderdale and Miami, by appointment. If you would rather not fit it yourself, warehouse install starts from $80 and takes about an hour. The exact price depends on your truck and bed length.
Still not sure whether your truck is a Gen 3 or a Gen 4, or which bed you have? Send us the year and a photo through our contact page and we will tell you.
Check your truck
The fastest way to settle all of this is the configurator. Open Shop by Vehicle, pick Toyota, your year and your bed length, and you will see the exact topper, the price and what is in stock for your Tacoma. If it looks right, reserve it with the $99 deposit and we will take it from there.
